Before You Start
Adding a vocabulary widget to your iPhone Lock Screen can help you see a new word or phrase each time you glance at your phone. VocabPin is a free app that provides Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets, works offline, and requires no account or in-app purchases. Here’s how to set it up.
Make sure VocabPin is installed on your iPhone. You can download it from the App Store. No sign-up or subscription is needed.
Add the Widget to Your Lock Screen
The exact labels may vary slightly depending on your iOS version, but the general flow is the same.
- Wake your iPhone and unlock it, or go to the Lock Screen you want to edit.
- Touch and hold the Lock Screen until the customization options appear.
- Tap Customize, then choose the Lock Screen you want to change.
- Select the area below the clock where widgets can be added.
- From the widget gallery, find VocabPin and choose the widget size you prefer.
- Tap Done to save your changes.
Add the Widget to Your Home Screen (Optional)
You can also place a VocabPin widget on your Home Screen:
- Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
- Tap the Add button (+) in the top-left corner.
- Search for VocabPin and select a widget size.
- Tap Add Widget, then position it where you like.
- Tap Done.
Using the Widget
Once added, the widget displays vocabulary directly on your Lock Screen or Home Screen. Because VocabPin works offline, words are available without an internet connection. There’s no account to manage, and the app is free with no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Tips
That’s it. With a few taps, you can turn your Lock Screen into a subtle vocabulary reminder.
- You can add multiple widgets if you want more than one word visible.
- Widgets update automatically; no manual refresh is needed.
- If you don’t see VocabPin in the widget gallery, make sure the app is installed and has been opened at least once.
